A vibrant Lindeth Howe wedding – Charlotte & Charles

Charlotte and Charles were married at Lindeth Howe on 30th August 2026.

Charles and I met at university in 2012, living next door to each other in our student accommodation. After a year of friendship, Charles asked me on a date in 2013 (despite me insisting to all our mutual friend that it was ‘friends having dinner’) and the rest is history.

In 2023 we planned a trip to California for our ten-year anniversary, where we road tripped to different national and state parks. We stayed for three nights near Yosemite National Park and went for a big hike on our anniversary, going past two amazing waterfalls and seeing a black bear in the woods. Having never really discussed marriage, or at least neither of us seeming particularly fussed about it, it was a huge surprise when Charles A: asked if we could use my mini tripod to take a ‘coupley’ photo together, and B: pulled out my mums engagement ring that travels everywhere with me, that he had stolen out of my backpack that morning! I was so stunned I almost forgot to say yes. It was a moment both of us will remember forever. Charles still jokes that the best thing that happened that day was seeing a bear.

As soon as we visited Lindeth Howe we knew this was the venue for us, it was such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere from the moment we walked in.

Location wise, the Lake District was somewhere special to us where we have taken lots of hiking trips over the years. Charles actually went for a local hike on the morning of the wedding. Both of our families are from opposite ends of the country, so it was amazing to have exclusive use of the hotel and to have our guests staying we us on site.

Another selling point for us was the wedding package, with everything included, such as the cake and the DJ. This was something that appealed to us as we wanted the planning to be as low pressure as possible, although this slightly went out the window when we decided to move abroad during the planning process. We called Clare at Lindeth Howe about the move and she completely calmed any worries we had – I think her words were ‘we’ve got this’. Clare immediately came up with a plan to get the things we needed to do in person done before we moved away, like the food tasting. We had a bit of breathing room from wedding planning whilst the big move was happening, and then once we were settled started having video calls for planning with John who was our lovely wedding coordinator. John was amazing and kept us right and on track throughout the whole process.

So, whilst it was definitely strange planning from abroad and on totally different time zones, it actually felt pretty seamless and easy thanks to the organisation and expertise of the team at Lindeth Howe. I could write a book on how great John and Clare are!

Arriving at Lindeth Howe the day before our wedding was a real mix of emotions – we hadn’t seen our families and friends for months, so it was a huge excitement to have all our loved ones arriving together. Lindeth Howe kindly put on a barbeque the night before for our guests so we got do all our catching up then and could relax a little more on the wedding day.

The day itself was busy and a bit overwhelming, in a good way, but John made sure we had some little moments to ourselves to chill out, which was definitely needed!

The interior at Lindeth Howe completely fit our wedding vibe so well that we didn’t need to add extra decoration. We did add a few personal touches such as paintings done by Charlotte for the table names/settings, a homemade welcome sign, and a little DIY photobooth area which Lindeth Howe also kindly provided props for.

We had loads of comments about how amazing the food was. We absolutely loved it…I’m a bit of foodie, so it was really important to us to have great food at our wedding – it was incredible!

Lindeth Howe is such a gorgeous, vibrant place, with a mix of old and new. Everywhere you look there is something interesting to look at and this translated into the photos.

Our photographer, Ollie Gyte Photography, really captured the vibe of the day, we wanted colourful, candid and chilled. He even took us down to Lake Windermere for some gorgeous photos, which was so much fun.

Jamie Harper DJ, booked by Lindeth Howe was absolutely fab and a really nice guy – he definitely captured the vibe we wanted on the dancefloor, and it was filled pretty much all night.

Wreay Syke Alpacas were a major focus on the day – we had two gorgeous alpacas, Jura and Braveheart, for guests to interact with, feed and walk. They were hugely popular amongst adults and kids, and particularly to us. Whenever we visited The Lakes we would sneak some time to go to an alpaca farm so they really made the day for us to have them there for our guests to share in their lovely, funny personalities.

My advice for couples planning a wedding would be to make sure you communicate as much as possible with your venue wedding coordinators, updating them with any changes. If you have any ideas, you aren’t sure about just ask. If there is stuff you need to do in person and have to travel, try to organise so you can get it all done at once, so you don’t have to make multiple trips if you are really far away.
