Little White Books recently held a photoshoot with some of the exhibitors who’ll be there on the day. Maxine explains the shoot:

‘A simple, romantic photo shoot which encapsulates 1920’s vintage elegance was recently held at the beautiful stately house, Towneley Hall in Burnley. Our models were Kate & Jordan, and both did a fantastic job yet Kate especially as she kept smiling through sub-zero temperatures on the outside shots! Everyone commented that she had a look of Catherine Zeta-Jones – this was her first modelling assignment and she was so relaxed and natural which really comes across on the images.

Kate’s dress was ‘Sandra’ by the designer Ronald Joyce, supplied by Brides Gallery of Eccleston. The dress was pivotal to the whole shoot – elegant & glamorous with the strands of pearls on the back, beautiful embellishment detailing to bust and waist, delicately falling into a small train. Jordan was a true gentleman on the day, our very own Matthew Crawley, and his suits were kindly supplied by Classic Formalwear of Bolton.

Kate’s makeup and hair was styled by Claire Connor of Be Beautiful – makeup was airbrushed for base and blush and lash extensions  added with mac eyeshadows and a natural smokey eye with eyeliner. The hair was created for the vintage theme – prepared by styling the hair and adding volume then dressing it for the side vintage look. Volume was added to the side bun.

Kate’s hand-tied bouquets were provided by Clare Evers of Blush Rose Events – ‘due to arriving late at the flower market, I panicked as there were literally no flowers left from the celebrations from the weekend. Also, all the lorries were still stuck in Holland due to the heavy snow fall. I luckily found some pretty blousy Peonies that had opened and looked so beautiful that I changed the colour scheme instantly just by looking at them, and there were plenty of snow white Hydrangeas so with this I decided to create two looks from our Decadent collection which tied in with the theme of Glamour 1920’s classic shoot. I tied each bouquet with classic chic pearl pins and for the blush Peony bouquet I added a jeweled brooch to add just a little touch of Hollywood glamour.’

These two bouquets epitomize the style of old Hollywood and Glamour, and you really can make it look classic and stylish by just adding simple flowers and adding a touch of class by adding a small jewel here and there.

We put together a portfolio of images using the wealth of period backdrops on offer at Towneley Hall which for over six centuries was the home of the Towneley family who lived there from the 13th century to 1902. From the regency elegance of the Green Room to the almost abstract cantilever staircase to the impressive images outside the Hall, Towneley Hall was a great host on the day.
