Emily & Martin married on 13th November 2021 at Holmes Mill, Clitheroe.
“We met on the internet, had our first date a week later at Junkyard Golf in Manchester, and we just immediately hit it off.
When Martin proposed, he took me on a lovely picnic, filled with all my favourite sandwiches and treats, then he proposed with a Haribo ring – before pulling out the real stunner!
I work in the wedding industry (my mum and I own Ébella Wedding Cakes in Whalley) and so I’m already familiar with all our local venues. We chose Holmes Mill as we both love its rustic, industrial and unique look. We knew we wanted an autumnal wedding, as this is our favourite time of the year, so we took the inspiration from the colours and textures of the season. Our theme featured lots of rich jewel tones and warm velvets.
Finding our suppliers was easy, being in the industry we have made some fantastic friends over the years, so it was a no-brainer who we would choose. All our plans came together brilliantly because of our amazing suppliers. And it’s no surprise that the vast majority are all Little White Books suppliers too.
My dress was a Rebecca Ingram design, and I had lots of alterations made to the dress to make it unique to me. I knew I wanted a fitted style and I love a bit of vintage too, so the Bardot neckline and fitted silhouette gave me that hint of Marilyn.
We had a church service at St Mary’s Church in Mellor, where the vicar was absolutely amazing – and everyone was taken by surprise when we combined the ceremony with our son Albert’s Christening.
We travelled from church to Holmes Mill in a campervan, this was so special just to have time for the two of us. It’s really important to take time out with each other because the day just flies by.
Our first song was ‘You and I’ by Tom Walker. This song is special to Martin and I. There was a moment just after we first met when the song came on the radio at work and I instantly thought of Martin; seconds later, Martin messaged me to tell me he had just heard a song that made him think of me and amazingly it was the exact same song I had been listening to! Then after our first dance, Neil at DFC really got the party started, and all our guests had THE best time dancing the night away.”
