We Couldn’t Be Happier with Bartle Hall – Caitlin & Carl

Caitlin & Carl Lutkevitch tied the knot at Bartle Hall on 18th April 2022

After seeing many venues across Lancashire we knew Bartle Hall was our perfect venue straight away; we were a postponed Covid wedding who had to change all plans from a 2020 wedding abroad to a fabulous 2022 UK destination, and with only eight months to go Bartle made the planning process effortless.

We needed a Wedding Venue with bedrooms on site, accessibility for my mum who is a wheelchair user, a separate ceremony and function room and grounds for beautiful pictures. Bartle Hall ticked all of these and then some, with Thicket Lodge, a separate residents bar and sweeping staircase for the bridal entrance. We especially loved the heritage of the building and couldn’t be happier with choosing Bartle Hall – in many ways, I feel like it chose us.

I stayed the night prior with my four bridesmaids in the Thicket Lodge and it was the perfect location to relax and start the wedding morning. Carl arranged a surprise for me with a gospel choir to serenade me with a selection of his favourite songs. It was amazing and started the night off perfectly. He then gave me gifts ready for the big day and left me, our mums, the bridesmaids our daughter and flower girl to enjoy the rest of the night. We enjoyed pizza and fizz in the hot tub, it was bliss.

Carl surprised me again by arranging with a performing gospel choir not only to walk me down the aisle but to sing during the ceremony which made it so much fun. We created wedding newspapers for the guests to read with information about us as a couple, as a family, the wedding party, with pictures and key dates – it made a lovely keepsake. We also had a reading from our niece which was perfect and a very special memory. We had the whole ceremony captured on a live video link for my Australian family who were unable to be there in person. We also loved that we could have Dottie, our little sausage dog, there during the welcome drinks and photographs too.

We wanted the day to reflect us as a couple – it was 100% us and we loved it! It was Easter weekend so we had an Easter egg hunt and chocolate bunny wedding favours. My maid of honour wrote a poem for us and arranged shots as part of our favours and we used wine bottle corks as place settings to hold polaroid pictures of our guests. In terms of colours, we had mainly white, rose gold, pinks and neutral tones in the flowers and decorations. However, for some fun we had a pink campervan photo booth and a bathtub prop!

Most Memorable Moment

Caitlin: Hearing the gospel choir singing ‘How Long Will I Love You’, by Ellie Goulding while I was waiting to walk into the ceremony room with my dad. I didn’t know what was going on, had a mini-panic then looked at my dad and thought we are finally doing this – as soon as I walked through the doors and saw Carl looking very dapper in his velvet tuxedo I just remember thinking this is beautiful and perfect.

Carl: Seeing our daughter Niamh first walk in through the doors looking beautiful and making me feel so proud, that brought tears to my eyes. I loved hearing the speeches and being able to dote on my beautiful wife during my speech. I can honestly say it was the best day of my life and Bartle Hall made it happen.

We can both say nothing was too much for the team at Bartle. Responding to emails promptly, always reassuring us and the smooth stress-free running of the day. They were an absolute dream and are a genuine credit to the beautiful venue.
