The Great Northern Wedding Venues front cover story
When you want to create an opulent and extravagant wedding feature, what better way to do this than with a nod to the Georgian era but with a modern day twist? Georgian wedding dresses were big and ostentatious, with wide, flared skirts and bodices that nipped in the waist. They featured lavish embellishments, and it became common for brides to wear dresses in a choice of colours, the chosen colour often reflecting wealth and social status. Pale complexions were also a sign of wealth, adding rouge to create rosy cheeks which signified good health, and women wore the most elaborate ‘updo’ hairstyles too, adorned with feathers, flowers and other decorations.
Red Floral Architecture created the most fitting dining scene using the most regal of red roses, with a waterfall of beautiful flowers cascading from the table – floral opulence at its best!
Our venue was the multi-award-winning Ashfield House in Standish, a gorgeous blank canvas for weddings; it is grand, yet homely, full of quirky details and a natural choice for our Twisted Georgian shoot.
