Brockholes had the perfect relaxed, personal feel – Ben & Caroline

Ben & Caroline married on Wednesday 21 April 2021 at Brockholes Nature Reserve. Here’s their story:

When looking for our wedding venue we wanted somewhere with a personal feel, not too formal, and where we could get beautiful scenic photos to look back on.

Living in Blackpool we kept our search within the Lancashire area, so it was easily accessible for our family to get to.

Due to Covid our original wedding had to be cancelled and we were left with nothing when our original venue didn’t want to proceed based on such small numbers. We almost gave up looking for an alternative venue as we’d dealt with so much disappointment, but then we got in touch with Caroline at Brockholes, and she made our dreams come to life in a very short space of time – 19 days!

We chose Brockholes because of its beautiful scenery and relaxed feel. We didn’t want anything too traditional and the team at Brockholes understood that. We had visited Brockholes before on days out so knew the layout and loved the setting. The fact we could have our ceremony in front of the windows looking over the water was just something we wouldn’t get anywhere else, and the photos from there were stunning. The whole venue offers lots of great photo opportunities, particularly on the jetty and amongst the reeds with the surrounding wildlife.

Caroline from Brockholes was amazing – we planned the whole day in under three weeks and she was always on hand to answer our questions and help us with anything we needed. The whole planning of the day was very stress-free, which is what we needed after so many cancellations, and we were in regular contact with the venue. The day itself ran perfectly with the help of the great team at Brockholes, they made the room look beautiful and made us and our guests feel so comfortable. They were a huge part of making our day so memorable and we will always be grateful to them.

Being a micro wedding the theme for the day was fairly minimal, however, the great thing about the Meadow View Suite, is that you can dress it up as much or as little as you like, and it still looks stunning. The team at Brockholes dressed the room for us with a mix of our own sourced decorations and some borrowed from the venue. We wanted a relaxed, boho feel so opted for neutral dried pampas grass and macrame jars to decorate the aisle as well as bunting across the room.

We would recommend getting married at Brockholes as it’s simply stunning. The natural beauty of the place really means that you don’t have to worry about decorations and extras, as the scenery is more than enough. The events team were so flexible with what we wanted and nothing was too much for them. I think our photos speak for themselves…
