A glorious Autumnal wedding – Hannah & Daniel at Mytton Fold

Hannah and Daniel were married at Mytton Fold on 24th October 2024.

Daniel and Hannah met at the University of Central Lancashire, whilst both studying Sport Studies, and got together at the end of first year.

Daniel: Hannah’s favourite holiday destination is Paleokastritsa in Corfu; she’s been there 8 times! And she had always dreamed about getting married there. That wasn’t an option for us, so I had to do the next best thing and propose there. In September 2022 we were on holiday there with Hannah’s parents, sister, and family friends. We went off on our own for a date night at her favourite restaurant, and on the way to it, there is a lovely spot overlooking the sea that I knew would be perfect, I just had to get there on time for sunset which was a struggle because Hannah was on crutches due to an ankle injury she got just days before we left. When we eventually made it to the spot, the sun was just going down and it was a perfect moment; just me, Hannah and the confused Greek man sat on the bench next to us.

We began looking for our wedding venue after attending a Little White Books Wedding Fair at Stoneyhurst College, concentrating our search in the surrounding that area. When we went to Mytton Fold, we were greeted by Paris and made to feel so welcome. After a tour of the venue and staying for some lunch, we knew it was going to be our wedding venue, so secured the date there and then!

Hannah: As we went for an Autumn wedding we decided to completely embraced the season and base our theme around that. All of our suppliers came either through Little White Books or through trusted recommendations from Mytton Fold, and we genuinely couldn’t have been happier with our choices. Everyone was an absolute pleasure to work with, which certainly made our lives a lot easier!

We only attended Little White Books Wedding Fairs – the first was the Lancashire Wedding Show at Stoneyhurst College, followed by an event at Mytton Fold, as well as attending the Great Northern Wedding Show in Bolton a couple of times. Wedding fairs are a great way to meet suppliers, see what they offer and start to visualise your special day.

We spoke to as many people as possible at the weddings fairs, this can seem overwhelming, but you need to know what sort of vibe you get from the suppliers. Ultimately, we were trusting these people with our wedding so it was important for us to get on with them and we genuinely felt that they cared about our special day as much as we did.

My dress was ‘Skylar’ by Kelsey Rose, which I absolutely adored! I went with my mum and sister to Amelia’s Bridal in Clitheroe and we had such a lovely experience from start to finish. I chose Amelia’s for two reasons – they were recommended by Mytton Fold, and I’d seen them in action on ‘Wedding Valley’, which I watched repeatedly throughout our wedding planning journey. It’s safe to say that Daniel got very bored of it very quickly!

Our first dance song was ‘And Then Some’ by the Canadian band Arkells. They were a support act at a gig we went to back in 2018, and we just fell in love with them from that moment on. Our wedding band, Late Last Night, did an amazing job covering it. Excluding the band, there were only three people in the room that night that knew our song – us and Daniel’s cousin who had also taken a liking to the band after our recommendation. It almost made the moment feel even more intimate for us, as no one else knew the words to be able to sing along!

The food at Mytton was stunning and we got so many comments from friends and family say that it was the best wedding food they’d ever had. Likewise, the band were a massive hit, even now our guests talk about how incredible they were.

Our advice for other couples planning their wedding is to get a videographer! We love looking through all our photos from the wedding, and Neil White captured our day beautifully, but Stephen Whitehead was our videographer, and we watch our wedding video all the time. It’s so magical watching our wedding day come to life every time we watch it. Getting to see parts of the wedding that we couldn’t see such as the bride and groom’s parties getting ready, or the guests just having the time of their lives on the dancefloor – it takes us right back. He captured our day perfectly, and it’s something that we, and our families and friends, can treasure forever.

Where did you spend your honeymoon?
We spent 11 nights in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was paradise!

Our 3 favourite things:
1. Our gorgeous fur baby Benjy smashing his ring bearer duties and walking down the aisle like a professional (we were convinced he was just going to sprint down it!).

2. The speeches – all 3 speeches were amazing. They all had us crying, laughing, and reminiscing. This was a special moment during the day for us.

3. All of our guests had to travel to our wedding from far and wide, so we essentially took over the hotel for 2 nights and 3 days! However, spending time with all of our loved ones the night before and the morning after just made our wedding even more special and it actually took a lot of pressure off of us for our big day as we didn’t feel the need to have to go around and speak to everyone on the day.
