“Sophie discovered the Flossy & Leigh Company last
year when she was reading the Little White Books magazine and read one of our
real life wedding features that was featured in there, and then when she saw
that we’d won both Hair and Makeup categories in the Great Northern Wedding Awards,
she selected us along with a few other Little White Books suppliers and award
winners for her wedding day.
Sophie came for her trial along with her Mum Hazel to our
Private Bridal Styling Studio, just off the M65, for her hair and makeup trial
a few months before the wedding.
We drank Bucks Fizz and ate cakes, whilst we discussed the
morning’s logistics, and then onto what she and Hazel wanted for the day.
Sophie brought us photos of everything from the dress and
flowers, to pictures of hair and makeup she liked.
From these photos we discussed exactly what she liked and
compared this with how she usually wore her hair and makeup day-to-day. We then created what I call a clean-makeup
subtle smokey eye, using a Tom Ford Brown Eye palette. We also decided to go
for the HD Airbrush makeup application using TEMPTU foundation, which is a
silicon foundation shipped in from the U.S. In my opinion this is the best out
there on the market, as it remains completely waterproof and sweat-proof, and
stays on for up to 2 days if you were to leave it without feeling remotely
heavy or mask-like.
We only ever tend to style our brides using short individual
lashes, for an ultra-natural and subtle finish that lasts right through until
the next day.
Because Sophie’s eyes are her main feature, we kept the lips
really neutral, with a nudey pink gloss.
Sophie has the longest, most beautiful hair, and so we really
loved the idea of leaving it down, but when we saw the high neckline and
details of the dress, the only way to go was this simple, elegant and
super-soft updo, leaving plenty of soft looser bits down to frame the face. We
tried a few different looks at the trial, and even to the last minute on the
wedding morning, we decided on a different parting at the front, which couldn’t
have looked lovelier.
We completed the look by setting the hair in rollers for
height at the top, and a hair wand by Cloudnine for the slightly tighter woven
detail.”
