The White Hart at Lydgate; “The village pub, and a little more besides”

On Sunday 25^th October 2009, we held our very first wedding fair at
the White Hart Inn at Lydgate, Saddleworth. It’s the wedding venue that we have
worked with over the longest period of time and it’s where our Little White Books wedding fair adventures began!

Set within the stunning backdrop of the Chew Valley hills,
Saddleworth, the White Hart Inn at Lydgate is the perfect choice. Only a 5 minute drive from Oldham, this well-established and multi-award winning wedding venue houses the beautiful Oak Room with beamed ceilings and floor to ceiling
windows. The venue is extremely popular for weddings and this has always been a
very popular wedding fair for us.

The White Hart modestly describes itself as ‘the village pub
and a little more besides’. Yet the White Hart at Lydgate is incredibly impressive
and stands at over three times the size of its original building which dates back
to 1788. It houses The Dining Room – Greater Manchester’s newest restaurant and
cocktail bar; The Brasserie; The Library (perfect for private dinner parties)
and the most recent addition, The Oak Room. Built in 2005 using green oak
timbers, the Oak Room boasts a stunning vaulted ceiling design with central

More recently there has been the welcome addition of The Pavilion, a fabulous outdoor area perfect for outdoor ceremonies and al fresco dining & entertaining.

The accommodation at the White Hart is just perfect. Having
benefitted from a very grand and sumptuous refurbishment, the Inn has been
awarded with a Four Star AA-rated accommodation rating. Their rooms are all
named after local Saddleworth dignitaries such as poet Ammon Wrigley and
Saddleworth’s last Lord of the Manor, James Farrar.

It has been awarded a plethora of food and drink awards,
most recently listed in the Good Food Guide Top 50 Pubs, and you can add two AA
rosettes to their hefty list of accolades, too. There’s also ‘The Cottage’ situated next door but one to The White Hart, providing four Family guest suites for an even more comfortable and luxurious
stay.
