Stephanie & Craig were married at St Wilfrids Church, Standish followed by their reception at The Wrightington Hotel & Country Club, Wigan.
Craig proposed to me
on our first holiday together. It was a complete surprise and he even hid the
ring in the suitcase which he wouldn’t let me unpack. We went for a romantic
stroll along the beach in the evening when he popped the question and of course
I said yes!
For our wedding
venue, we wanted something with class and elegance and as soon as we stepped
foot into The Wrightington Hotel & Country Club we knew straight away it
was the one. The style and decor was beautiful and very modern and the staff
did everything in their power to make sure we were looked after on our special
day. In fact we plan to go back to the Wrightington on our one year
anniversary.
We chose plum purple
for our theme as it complemented our autumn wedding and it was the latest trend at the time of our wedding.
For inspiration I
visited a number of wedding fairs hosted by Little White Books and was able to
see some of the work done by the local suppliers. This is how I found my
amazing wedding photographer Sam Rigby Photography. She was so friendly and
professional and she made great suggestions for capturing those memorable
moments, making sure everything looked natural. One of those suggestions included a pre-wedding photo shoot which would enable us to feel more comfortable, and this helped
immensely as I am camera shy.
My flowers were by Garlands Florists in Standish who came highly recommended by family and friends
and they are also local to me. I showed her images I had seen on the internet of the
types of flowers I wanted which were plum calla lilies and cream roses. She
gave us great advice and even made a few special touches to complete the
bouquet.
Our wedding cars were
also recommended to us by a friend and we were so glad to have met Kevin at Grace Wedding Cars. The classic cars were beautiful and we truly arrived to the
church and venue in style! He was so friendly and helped calm my nerves when I
was arriving to the church.
Finding the perfect
dress was easy! I has found my dress on the Mori Lee website and had to wait
patiently for the dress to arrive at a UK stockist. When the dress was finally
available at Always and Forever Bridal Boutique in St Helens, I had to try it
on straight away. Of course I tried on other dresses but nothing compared to
this dress that I had long waited for, it was truly breathtaking and had
beautiful detailing.
For our first dance
song we had chosen In Your Eyes by George Benson. However, we asked my father-in-law if he could sing the song for us. He sang it perfectly and it certainly
made our day that more special.
For our honeymoon we
wanted somewhere hot for October and after searching a number of destinations
we chose Paphos, Cyprus which was a popular resort for weddings and honeymoons.
The resort was stunning and the staff was so friendly and inviting, they
treated us like royalty.
My advice for those
getting married is to simply relax, everything falls into place so enjoy every
minute of your special day, as it does go quickly. It truly is a day to
remember.
