This week Team LWB connected with
Holly’s Lollies during our weekly Twitter wedding chat #weddingoclock every
Sunday 9-10pm. She creates the most amazing lollipops that make perfect,
unique wedding favours that your guests will adore. Her story is fabulous
– haven’t we all dreamt of ditching the 9-5 and spending your life working on something
you love? Here’s Holly’s story!
LWB: Giving up your job to start your own
business is a huge life change. What has been your motivation to strike out on
your own?
Holly: I’ve always loved being
creative and originally started the business in 2013 whilst on a summer break
from uni. I had to give it up when I went back to finish my degree (psychology
at Bath). I finished uni, started a graduate job (which
I have been in for a year now) and realised
I was following this path because I thought
that’s what you were meant to do, get a degree, get a job etc., I had no creative outlet and the lollipops
were always in the back on my mind. After Christmas I started working on the
lollipops in my spare time and knew I just had to do it full time. Something
clicked. I put out a few feelers and realised just how popular they were, so I
took the plunge and here I am.
LWB: Everyone loves lollipops but yours
are extra special – what makes them unique?
Holly: The flavours, and the
look! (can i say both? ha!) Holly’s lollies feature
a range of unusual flavours which is always expanding from cocktail lollipops
with real alcohol, to coffee lollipops with freshly ground coffee. I’ve work
hard on the look. They are packaged with kraft paper tags and tied with
bakers twine making them pretty for any occasion. What’s more is they’re
totally customisable, we can change the colours to suit a theme and put names
and quotes onto the tags.
LWB: Which lollipops have been
particularly popular so far?
Holly: People LOVE the gin
& elderflower and the pina colada. I think it’s the booze, naughty but nice! And strangely it seems that guys tend to like
the caramel latte. Maybe that’s more manly? Who knows!
LWB: What next for Holly’s Lollies?
Holly: We are halfway through
our Kickstarter campaign, raising funds to
rent a larger professional kitchen to meet demand. I am supplying a number of
shops and wedding boutiques, as well as taking wedding orders and the official online shop opens September 1st!
