Katie & Emily married on 20th July 2021 at Eaves Hall, Clitheroe.

They met at Leeds University 10 years ago, both playing for the university football team, their first meeting was on a social with Emily dressed as a frog and Katie as a snail! They finally got the day that they deserved after their original wedding date was postponed. Read on to hear all about their love story and dream wedding, and photographer Nelly Naylor Photography has captured some incredible images too:

PROPOSAL
Emily proposed at home in April 2019. It was just the two of us and she’d made a book with photos of our relationship in it. The last page just said “and now I have a question.” It was the Thursday of Easter weekend so we spent the rest of the weekend celebrating with family and friends.

VENUE
As soon as we walked into Eaves Hall we knew it was the venue for us. It’s so beautiful and the grounds are stunning. The main thing for us was that the venue was exclusive and there were bedrooms on site so most guests didn’t have to worry about taxis etc. in the evening.

THEME
We went for green as it’s Emily’s favourite colour and originally we were due to get married in December so we thought it was a nice wintry colour. By the time we’d unfortunately had to postpone the wedding we’d already made all the arrangements but it worked just as well for our rearranged date in summer. For the table theme we went with the 7 Wainwright books as we’re currently on a mission to try and climb all 214 fells.

CEREMONY
We walked down the aisle to Mary Lambert – She Keeps Me Warm. It’s a song very close to our hearts.

FOOD
There was so much choice it took us a long time to decide! In the end we went for a traditional beef and chicken option plus a risotto as the vegetarian option. Eaves Hall were so accommodating with some guests’ dietary requirements and everyone loved their meal.
ENTERTAINMENT
One of the best bits of changing to a summer wedding was that we were able to make the most of the grounds and play a highly competitive game of rounders.

PHOTOS
Our photographer was Nelly Naylor. We wanted to have an LGBT photographer on the day as she would really understand what the day meant for us. When we first saw how colourful her portfolio was and how natural the shots were there was no other choice for us and we’re so happy with the decision. We still spend evenings looking through photos!

OUR WEDDING COORDINATOR AT EAVES HALL
Everybody leading up to the wedding was absolutely brilliant, responding quickly to any questions that we had over the ever-changing rules. On the day itself Lucy and Lesley-Anne were fantastic from the little details (always making sure we had a glass of fizz/plates of food available) to the bigger things such as coordinating our walks down the aisle and making sure our guests were in the right place so they didn’t miss anything. We want to send a big thank you to absolutely everybody at Eaves Hall for their hard work and making our day so special!

BEN
Being able to have our dog Ben there on the day definitely was the cherry on top of the icing. He looked very dapper in his green bow tie and “helped” with the lawn games by stealing the jack whenever it was thrown.

EXTRA SPECIAL MOMENTS
After everything that has gone on in the last 2 years just being able to have all our family and friends together in one room was so special.
