We chose the Little White Books Cover Stars! – Jasmine & Andrew at Hoghton Tower

Jasmine & Andrew married on 21st August 2021 at Hoghton Tower, Preston.

“Andrew and I first met at work, realising we shared the same interests we hit it off and became great friends and soon after started dating.

We had been together eight years and there was no engagement ring in sight nor mention of a wedding, so the proposal was very unexpected. In May 2019 we hired a Villa in the town of Pollença, Majorca with our two close friends. We had the best holiday and on the last night, we had our nightly barbecue and reminisced on the fantastic week we’d had. Andrew asked for a last holiday photo with me by the pool with the dusk skyline of Majorca behind us. We posed for the photo and to my surprise, he said “I love you, and want to spend the rest of my life with you” then he got on one knee and asked me to marry him. I cried (a lot) and said YES!

As soon as we got home from Majorca and shared the news, I jumped onto the wedding planning.  Once the venue is chosen the wedding planning becomes easier so this was our first port of call.

We viewed a couple of venues, then saw Hoghton Tower on the Little White Books magazine front cover. We eagerly went to view the venue, as it was only a 20-minute drive away. We fell in love instantly and knew this was where we wanted to get married.

After we booked the venue, we started looking for wedding suppliers. This is where Little White Books came in very handy. Nearly every supplier we booked we found on the Little White Books website or in their magazine. And on the back cover of their magazine, this is where we found the amazing DFC, they took a lot of the stress away for us without having a wedding planner. They provided the photographer, videographer, harpist, DJ, saxophonist and percussion. Because we booked them all through DFC, this meant the wedding planning was much easier as I only had to liaise with one person who was fantastic at bringing our wedding together.

Now it’s not the norm for a bride to say, “the cake is more important than the dress”, but in my case it was. Having my own little cake company, Jazzed Up Confectionery, my passion is cakes. I made my own wedding favours, a piece of white chocolate chip flapjack dressed in an organza wedding favour bag, however, wanted to source my cake elsewhere. I had to choose the best supplier to create my dream wedding cake and oh-my did they succeed! Suzanne Thorp at The Frostery created our masterpiece and to this day we still have guests commenting on how it was the most amazing wedding cake they had ever seen.

Before the wedding I was so nervous at the thought of walking down the aisle in front of all our guests, but I focused on my future husband and all the anxiety went away. I would really recommend this as it is a moment you will never forget.

Make sure you tell your suppliers what you want; if you want your first dance videoing from beginning to end to capture that special moment, let them know beforehand. Wedding planning is stressful, but when your day arrives it is totally worth it and just falls into place.”
