Stunning Wedding Backdrop at Hobbit Hill – Guy & Ellie

Guy & Ellie tied the knot at Hobbit Hill on 10th September 2022

We met at university as we were on the same course together, and in the midst of Covid we got engaged. The day that Guy proposed started with me jumping out of bed and deciding I wanted to go Christmas shopping – he was in a mood around the shops and now I know why! When we returned home, I walked into the kitchen and saw that the wall was covered with our photos, together with a poem Guy had written about us; I turned around and he was there with the ring!

We weren’t planning a wedding when we chose our venue. We were walking part of the Tolkien Trail, in the Ribble Valley, when we decided to visit Hobbit Hill where my dad was working at the time. Even though it was in the process of being plastered and tiled, by my dad, we were immediately sold – we didn’t go to see any other venues after that.

Our day was just simple and beautiful, exactly how I wanted it to be. My dress was Mikayla by designer Blue by Enzoani from Lulu Browns and it matched the venue perfectly. Our bridesmaid dresses were from Always the Bridesmaids, in the colour Icelandic – we decided to theme most of our wedding styling around this colour.

Due to Covid we couldn’t visit wedding fairs, so did most of our planning online through social media, recommendations and website directories.

The Striped Kitchen was a natural choice to cater for our wedding because they are amazing and they’re also family.

Walking down the aisle and being surrounded by so much love was amazing. Guy’s family are all from East Sussex and we have some relatives in Nottingham too, so everyone really enjoyed being together at last and in some cases meeting for the first time. We had a fantastic party!

Our first dance song was The One by Kodaline. We both really like the song and didn’t want anything slow. Our band performed the song live for us which was incredible.

After the wedding we decided to spend a week in Cornwall. We both love visiting and hadn’t been since Covid so we treated ourselves with some gorgeous accommodation overlooking the beach and did things we wouldn’t normally do on a standard holiday.

In the months leading up to our wedding day, I was worried by every little detail, and if I could give any couple one piece of advice now, it would be – don’t worry! Thankfully, having my bridesmaids around me on the day before and the day of the wedding, meant I was uncharacteristically calm throughout, and everything went perfectly; but even if it doesn’t, it’s unlikely that anyone would even notice!
