We met back in 2012 on E-Harmony – who knew online dating would work!
Martin proposed in 2019. Working in finance meant house and babies came first as the wedding was a luxury. I was heavily pregnant with our daughter Lauren, when Martin took me to Cockermouth where he had wanted to propose near a waterfall on a walk. However, my ankles swelled to elephant size and I couldn’t walk far. We were in the hotel room, I walked out of the bathroom to find Martin on one knee. After seven years together I rightly thought he was joking, and said, “are you taking the piss?” Once I noticed there were tears in his eyes I of course said yes. It will always be a comical, yet romantic moment for us.
When it came to choosing our venue, we looked on Google and the Little White Books website, viewing places that could accommodate over 80 on the day. As soon as I walked into the main room in Mytton Fold I started to tear up, which I didn’t expect so I knew this must be the right one.
I love purple and found a lovely colour palate of navy blue, gold and purple online and decided to follow that for our wedding theme.
I found our venue stylist, Pure Elegance and photographer, Eighth Avenue at a Little White Books Wedding Fair at Mytton Fold. I had also seen Pure Elegance at the Great Northern Wedding Show held at Bolton Arena and had loved their displays. Our florist, Marshalls Florist Chorley, was recommended by Pure Elegance, who ensured our artificial flowers and real flowers matched perfectly. My dress was called ‘Hope’, by designer Martine Liana from Fairytale Brides Ltd and our suits were from Aults – amazing service. Our cake was made by a close friend as a wedding gift.
Our first dance song was ‘Here’ by Tom Grennan, it is song that is very special to us and we just love the words.
For our honeymoon, we took the children to Disneyland Paris and then the two of us had a beautiful escape to Corfu in an amazing luxury hotel. Pure relaxation, just time for us to be together with no schedule or timeframes.
Mytton Fold was such an impressive venue and it was lovely to be able to share our day with friends and family there, and the food was amazing.
My advice for any couple planning their wedding would be to make sure you take some time away from the crowd on your wedding day. Somewhere you can sit back as a couple and watch your friends and family enjoy the day that you two created.
My favourite three things about our wedding day would be,
• Being a princess for the day
• Seeing my family and friends all in one place
• Dancing with my family
