A Fabulous Party Wedding – Helen and Patryk were married at Mytton Fold

Helen & Patryk were married on 23rd May 2024 at Mytton Fold.

Patryk and I met through Bumble in 2021 and had our first date at Costa on Halloween. The following week, whilst on holiday in Spain, I drunkenly decided to send Patryk a unicorn balloon to celebrate his 29th birthday. I knew very little about him, the message just said ‘From Hels’ in an attempt to play it cool…and the rest is history!

He proposed on 19th June 2023 in Belfast as we walked around the botanical gardens in the sun.

We knew we wanted to get married in the north-west and did go to view four venues, but there was none that we liked as much as Mytton Fold.

We needed plenty of bedrooms as we have family travelling from Poland and Scotland. There are dog friendly rooms for our furry family members, and everything is accessible and in one place. With the Abbey Suite being a separate building, the venue offers plenty of privacy from the hotel and restaurant.

Our colour scheme for the day was champagne and coral. We didn’t have any specific theme for the day but knew we wanted the entertainment to be the main focus. We had a range of amazing artists who really brought the day to life; Craig Smith (Pianist), Steel Drums Band Entertainment, String Infusion and Exceed Events.

Patryk already had an idea of which suppliers he wanted, having worked in the industry for many years. Our photographer and videographer were booked within a week of our engagement, and they did an amazing job.

We heard String Infusion play at ‘Maggie’s Ball’ in 2021 and had agreed if we ever got married, we needed them at our big day. I already had my hair stylist picked out and was recommended my make-up artist by Patryk.

We visited the Little White Books’ Great Northern Wedding Show in October 2023 and met so many great suppliers including the children’s entertainment company Little Party People Entertainment. This was one of the best services we secured for the day, keeping all the kids busy during our wedding breakfast.

My dress was Morilee Juanita from Amelia’s bridal. We honestly cannot thank the girls at Amelia’s enough. They provided both the gown and the suits and to say they went above and beyond would be an understatement. Patryk has known the girls for quite a while and when I set out to find my dress, he suggested I add Amelia’s to the list.

I visited five bridalwear shops over a three-week period and must have tried on over 40 dresses. I didn’t know what style I wanted, but assumed I would choose something fitted and ended up with the complete opposite! Out of all the shops I visited with my entourage Amelia’s had the biggest selection by far and the moment I tried Juanita on I knew she was mine.

On the day of the wedding Jo and Kelly delivered the dress, and as they were also attending the wedding they kindly stayed and helped me into the gown. I was so nervous on the day, but they made me laugh, kept me calm and, most importantly, made me feel beautiful!

For our first dance we wanted something fun, so we decided to learn a line dance routine to the song ‘Fake ID’ from the film ‘Footloose’. We took dancing lessons with Body In Motion dance school in Horwich where Louisa taught us a daring routine that involved Patryk flipping me over his head. Our guests loved it and it’s safe to say we’ll never forget that dance.

For our honeymoon we went to Switzerland for five nights, then on to Italy where we met up with my mum, stepdad and our daughter Frankie. I started to feel unwell in Italy and the day before we came home found out I was pregnant. Although at the time this came as a bit of shock, this was truly the best way to end our honeymoon.

We had the most amazing wedding day and everyone had a great time. We’d decided to write our own wedding vows, which our guests enjoyed and the fabulous entertainment went down very well, especially the drums and sax artists – Exceed really did bring the party! Patryk had requested Polish food for our wedding breakfast too which was absolutely delicious.

Our advice for anyone planning their wedding is don’t stress over the little details, or the things you can’t control. On the day it won’t matter, as it’s your day to celebrate with your loved ones you’ll cherish every minute (even if it rains for most of the day).

Our 3 favourite things:
Helen: My dress, the speeches, the evening entertainment.
Patryk: The food, the entertainment, all the people we love being together in one room.
