Getting Married at the Place I Work: Why I Chose Crow Wood Hotel for My Wedding
As I work as a wedding planner at Crow Wood Hotel, searching for a wedding venue was probably one of the hardest parts of our planning process.

I had quite a clear idea of what I wanted. I was looking for somewhere modern, with lots of natural light, outdoor space, a bar within the room and, most importantly, somewhere that was easily accessible for our elderly grandparents.

We looked around two or three different venues, but it was then that I realised Crow Wood was actually the perfect venue for us. The only thing holding me back from booking it was the inevitable reaction from other people. The strange looks. The questions. And, more often than not, the same comment: “Are you really going to get married where you work?!”

The truth was, I could always see myself getting married at Crow Wood. And I knew that if we chose somewhere else, I wouldn’t want to look back and think, I wish we’d just booked Crow Wood. So, we did. And getting married “where I work” was actually one of the best decisions we made.

Trusting the Team Around Me
I knew that, as we got closer to the wedding, I would naturally be filled with all the anxiety that any bride would usually feel. But there was also a huge sense of reassurance in knowing the team at Crow Wood would be looking after us.

I knew the banqueting team were amazing. I knew they would make sure the day ran on time, were attentive to us throughout the day and would look after us in exactly the same way they do for every couple who gets married there. I also knew the food would be delicious! And, of course, we had chosen some wonderful suppliers who I completely trusted. That meant I could simply leave everything down to the people I knew would do an incredible job and actually enjoy our wedding day without worrying about a single thing.

Choosing Our Wedding Date
We booked our wedding around two years in advance, and when it came to choosing our date, I had one thing in mind: I wanted to be married before I was 30. Don’t ask me why!

We chose 27th August 2026, as this was the date that both the videographer and photographer I wanted were available. I say I wanted them because I definitely had to convince Steven that they would be worth the money! My argument was that, ultimately, the only things we would take away from our wedding would be our rings and the content from our photographer and videographer. I wanted to make sure we had incredible memories of the day that we could look back on for years to come. And, as it turned out, I was right.

On the day itself, they both worked incredibly hard. They genuinely didn’t stop all day, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Their hard work didn’t go unnoticed either, with so many of our guests commenting on how amazing they were. Following the wedding, even Steven said it was the best money he has ever spent.

Our Wedding Décor & Flowers
The next big decision was our wedding décor, and again, I had one person in mind: Fleur Designs.
As a venue, we had recently started working with Fleur Designs, and I had instantly fallen in love with their work. Jen, the owner, is absolutely incredible, and I knew I could put all my trust in her.

I gave her a very small brief of the type of florals we were looking for, along with our colour scheme, but I deliberately left her to create the rest. I knew that giving her the freedom to be creative would be for the best. And when I say I was blown away by what they created, that is an understatement. My bouquet, the buttonholes and all of the décor throughout the day were utterly beautiful. Every detail was exactly what I could have hoped for, and seeing everything come together on the day was so special.

Would I Recommend Getting Married at Crow Wood?
So, without sounding like I’m being biased towards Crow Wood, I genuinely believe it is one of the best wedding venues you can book in the north-west. Of course, working there meant I already knew the team, the venue and how everything worked behind the scenes. But that was exactly what made our wedding day so enjoyable for me. I knew I could completely trust the team to look after us, and that allowed me to step away from being the wedding planner for the day and simply be a bride.

We genuinely had the best day, and so did our guests. Looking back, I wouldn’t change our decision to get married at Crow Wood for anything. It was the perfect setting for our wedding, surrounded by our favourite people, with an incredible team and wonderful suppliers bringing everything together.

To all those people who asked, “Are you really going to get married where you work?!”
The answer was absolutely yes — and I’m so glad we did.
