Alison & Andrew tied the knot at Stirk House on 6th June 2019. Here’s their own story:
Andrew
and I had been friends for years, but then we got chatting one night at a
birthday party in a friend’s pub – and the rest is history!
We only
looked at a few wedding venues, it was probably easier for us to choose as I’m
a florist and so I see a lot of wedding venues when I’m delivering flowers.
Stirk House has always stood out; the team are lovely, it’s modern and fresh
looking, spacious and welcoming. Danielle was there to assist us in every way,
and we’d heard great things about Dave the host there, too. Their food had been
highly recommended and so we visited the restaurant beforehand and it didn’t
disappoint – it was really superb, which I think is an important quality of any wedding venue. Andrew was particularly keen on the 24hr bar – although
he only just made it to midnight!
There
were so many magical moments throughout our day; our singer Wayne Farrow was
wonderful, as was our magician Andrew Dean, and seeing all our guests together
so happy and enjoying the entertainment on our special day was just a joy to
watch. Dave, our host, ensured everything ran like clockwork.
The most special part of the day was when I first walked
into the ceremony room and the set up by Red Floral. Andrew was stood waiting
for me at the end of the aisle and it just
took my breath away. It’s been amazing to watch our wedding film and see
all our guests’ reactions when they first entered the room, too. The scent and
atmosphere that the flowers created was nothing less than sublime and was a
huge part of our day – they really set the scene and made everything feel
magical.
The
evening was lit up with Girls That Mix on sax and bongos, we also had a
festival-themed makeup area and a selfie mirror. It all worked together
brilliantly. We had a sweet cake and a savoury of cheese, biscuits and pickle
which we offered out on the night – it worked fantastically! And along with the flowers and our suppliers, our
guests all said that our love for each other shone through all day, which is so
beautiful to hear.
My advice
for stress-free wedding planning, would be to start planning early; research
your suppliers and don’t be rushed into making decisions. We booked two years
in advance and started planning straight away – it gives you so much more time
to concentrate on the little details that really do make the day special. I
wanted every single one of our guests to have an amazing day and create amazing
memories and we really achieved that.
Remember the main thing is that you’re getting married – whatever small
things go wrong, you’re still getting married and that’s what matters above all
else.
Enjoy every second – because it is over
in a heartbeat! (Supplier list below)
