There is no place quite like Eaves Hall – Jen & Josh Thompson

Jen & Josh Thompson tied the knot at Eaves Hall on Friday 11 October 2019. Here’s their story:

Being the Group Wedding & Event Manager at James’ Places, we had quite a few specific requirements for our wedding venue. The main thing for me was that I
wanted somewhere that I knew would exceed our expectations and go the extra
mile, as well as somewhere that I could
completely trust.

We wanted a venue which was beautiful both inside
and outside, just in case the weather wasn’t too kind to us. We needed
somewhere that would be able to comfortably fit 100 guests for the day, and we
also wanted the venue to ourselves.

Back in 2013 I started my Wedding Coordinating
journey with James’ Places at the gorgeous Eaves Hall, so it has always had a
very special place in my heart. Five years later we were looking for the
perfect place to hold our perfect day.

The grounds at Eaves Hall are just gorgeous,
plenty of space, lots of photo opportunities and the trees at that time of year
looked so beautiful with our colour scheme….some guests even asked if we had
them brought in for the day.

We were able to decide what we wanted for our
day, from centrepieces to food and wine, we
were even able to decided what ale we had on the bar (and personalised
it too). You could have the drinks
reception outside if you wantedand
different options for the evening do too.

It is the most beautiful
venue, and being yours for the day meant we could go where we wanted for our photos. We spent a lot of time in
the grounds, just Josh and I.

The wonderful Lesley-Anne
ran our day. It was so lovely that not only a work colleague, but one
of my closest friends was able to do this for us and I knew that everything
would be absolutely spot on – she was fantastic.

My parents wanted to arrange some surprises for
us on the day, so worked with Lesley-Anne and made sure no one else found out,
not even the staff.

We booked Pat Mulligan Wedding Host to host our
day. Pat was in on the surprises too. He asked everyone to fill in advice
cards, which he later picked the funniest/most embarrassing ones out and asked
that person to stand and read it out – the room was howling! He surprised some
of our guests by playing their first dance songs and they had to get up and
re-enact their first dance.

The team at Eaves Hall were phenomenal throughout the whole of the planning process and
on the day too – literally nothing was too much trouble and our glasses were
never empty. They all had happy, smiling faces all day and all night, you could
really tell they were enjoying themselves. The
food was out of this world! In the February before the wedding, we went
for a taster with my parents and it is safe to say we were wow’d…and a little
merry after lots of wines were tasted.

During the wedding breakfast, Scene My Event and
Creative Events came in and transformed the lounge area into our very own night
club. My parents had arranged for ‘Mr Wilson
Second Liners’ for the evening entertainment alongside the fantastic Pat
Mulligan DJ and what a show they put on. Eaves Hall was totally transformed
into the ultimate party palace. We didn’t step foot off the dance floor all
night. It was epic!We also had a
beauty selfie mirror from Reflections, with our own personalised prints.

Being an autumn wedding we chose a burnt
orange/rust theme.

I wore a Madeline Gardner dress from Amelia’s in
Clitheroe, with a Joyce Jackson veil and a loose, imperfect handtied bouquet
designed by Charlotte at The Flower Shop.

We provided all of the room dressing ourselves,
we had all been very busy collecting conkers, fir cones which we sprayed
copper, acorns and leaves. We bought some beautiful copper lanterns and my dad
made some large rust crowns.

Our favours were personalised shortbread biscuits
made by my beautiful bridesmaid Justine (Cakes By Jus) which had hand-drawn
copper leaves on and our initials. We also had autumnal confetti from Adam
Apple in personalised bags for each guest.

Josh designed the wedding cake with the ladies at
Iced in Garstang. He also created a copper frame to display the cake. We had a
fab neon sign from Bride’s Little Helper which made a perfect backdrop for
photos.

There is no place quite like Eaves Hall. It quite
literally is the perfect venue and we have received so many lovely comments
about our special day. We wanted a day that was like no other and that everyone
would remember forever, and we definitely got it.
