Christine & Ken Tied the Knot at Thornton Hall

We got
married on 27th October 2016 at Thornton Hall Hotel in Thornton Hough which is a lovely
village on the Wirral.

We first
met on-line. We chatted to each other then met in Liverpool city centre and
have been together ever since. Ken proposed to me on the final night of a
fortnight Cruise around the Med: we bought the ring in the jewellery shop on
board.

The hotel
we got married in is just around the corner from where Ken was living at the
time we were looking for a venue. As soon as I walked in I fell in love with
the place. It was the first venue we looked at and we definitely made the right
decision.

As we are
an older couple I didn’t want a traditional white wedding so we went with the
theme of a “dinner dance”. I
wore a nude/pink Jacques Vert evening dress and Ken was in a white tuxedo. I then asked as many
people as possible to wear evening wear. The colour scheme of the flowers and
cake was vintage pink and silver.

Our florist, photographer and cake supplier were all recommended to us by people who had worked with them or used them. I especially loved my Flowers provide by Karen Lappin of Karena Floral & Event
Artisan. They were exactly what I wanted and the colours matched my dress
perfectly.

Sam Rigby
photography took our pictures. All the guests said how lovely Sam was as she
was taking shots. Sam was very good at snapping people without them knowing so
we got some really natural shots. I’m not keen on having my picture taken but she
made it such fun that I really enjoyed the experience. www.samrigbyphotography.co.uk

Our first dance was “You to Me are Everything” by the Real Thing. We loved the sentiment in the words. All the music was based on music we listened to through the 60’s 70’s & 80’s with a bit of modern tunes for the younger guests.

It is hard to say which are my 3 favourite things as I thoroughly enjoyed everything. But the
thing I liked the best was seeing everybody being so happy for us both and
enjoying themselves. Everyone who attended the wedding enjoyed the venue, the food and the whole experience. It was one of the best days in my life and we have some
really fantastic memories.
