If you’ve got your sights set on throwing a super cool
hipster wedding then here are few tips and
ideas to make it #ultimatehipster.
The Groom
Ideally the groom will have a full beard or carefully
styled mustache. The hipster wedding is as
much about the groom as it is about the bride and there are loads of
great male grooming products on the market.
Bow ties are a must or an unusual patterned tie, rolled up sleeves, tweed jackets, close fitting trousers and
tan loafers or Converse trainers – colour combinations as mixed up as possible.
The Bride
For the bride, think hippy, vintage, festival…, long,
lacey and bohemian. The brides’ hair should be lose and natural; the goal of the hipster bride is to look naturally
beautiful and slightly undone, so go for garlands made of flowers with loose braids and waves to frame the face.
Flowers
Wild flowers are the perfect choice for a hipster
wedding or flowers that look hand-picked. Go for long uneven stems tied with
ribbon or lace.
Stationery & Signage
Stationery and signage needs to have a hand-made or
vintage look. Chalkboards, wood, hessian
and brown card, coupled with mixed up font styles, ribbons and scrolls.
Watercolour effects are also very much in fashion at the moment.
The Venue
This should be natural and outdoorsy such as a barn or
teepee or somewhere tranquil where guests can spill outside should the sun come
out. Outdoor photography a must, with a
backdrop of trees, woods or even a forest to set the
mood –it’s a good idea to get a photographer who understands your theme; traditional family line-ups are not
very hipster.
Fabric bunting, hand-made decorations and vintage
accessories will compliment a minimal setting and as the sun goes down and the evening do begins,
set the mood with single colour fairy lights and naked Edison bulbs.
The Cake
For the cake, go naked with a roughly finished icing
decorated with flowers and fruit, or why not have a stack of your favourite
treats such as multi-coloured macaroons or even tiered cheeses.
Entertainment
The entertainment must be alternative in some way so
go for a folk or mariachi band or anyone you know who is in a band to come and play. The foodand drink locally sourced where possible
with a trendy, artisan feel.
Hipster ideas
Other hipster things you might want add: Umbrellas,
wellies, owls, local wildlife prints, mustache motifs, vintage anything,
bicycles, dream catchers, deckchairs, multi-coloured ribbon backdrops…
