Wedding season 2016 is in full
swing! Team LWB love seeing wedding photos from the wonderful locations
we have on our doorstep in the North of England, so we asked Kerry Woods, the holder of the
Great Northern Wedding Awards Best Female Photographer 2015, to share three of
her favourite locations to capture memories and create absolutely beautiful
images.
Great Northern Brides;
here’s Kerry’s insight into the very best locations in our region!
“My favourite part of each and every wedding day is the couples
pictures. It quite often makes up only 15 minutes of the whole day, but
it is the time I get to take the bride and groom off for a stroll and be
creative! It’s generally where the magic happens (photo wise), and the bride
and groom get to breath and spend quality time with each other which any happy
married couple will know can be a struggle on your big day. We are very spoilt
in the Northwest as there is an abundance of stunning venues, many I get to
visit time and time again. Here is just a very small snippet of my favourites
and why:
1. The first venue I have chosen is Beeston Manor,
set in the beautiful countryside of Hoghton near Preston, Lancashire. The
reason this venue is one of my favourites – couples shots wise, is the variety
in backdrops that it offers. From its beautifully manicured gardens which
over look nothing but fields and tree’s to the rather industrial looking hangar
right next door. They even in certain months have the most beautiful
woodland area filled with bluebells and long grass. All of this allows me
to keep it original and offer different styles of images. When the
weather is kind there is also the most spectacular sunset to the rear of the
building which I’ve been lucky enough to work with a lot!
2. The second venue I have chosen is Manchester Town Hall.
Anyone who has ever steeped foot inside will no doubt have fallen in love
with the amazing architecture and character as I have. The interior takes
you back in time and omits a moodiness unlike no other venue I have seen.
It’s ideal if the weather decides not to play ball, the only venue I know
where you are spoilt for choice on the inside more than the outside when it
comes to creating beautiful couples portraits. I used to be a city girl
so taking the couple for a walk around Manchester city centre can be a lot of
fun. The architecture, unassuming passers-by and buzz of the city offers
a whole new type of image. It’s pretty special!
3. My final venue is The Outbarn at Clough Bottom. A
relatively unknown venue and hidden gem! The venue itself is a stunning
converted barn with a modern edge. The real magic happen when you step
foot outside the doors of the barn onto sprawling fields and farmland. Its
breathtaking. I’ve not yet visited a wedding venue situated in such an
expanse of space, I’m a huge fan of the outdoors and rustic and this venue
marries with that style effortlessly. This venue makes my job extremely easy
when it comes to the couples portraits and as you get exclusive use for the
whole weekend your guests are even invited to camp!
