The concept of an engagement shoot is a fairly new one to me. When I got married I don’t think an engagement shoot was something that really existed (how old does that make me sound!), although it’s only eight years since we tied the knot. To be fair it would probably have been a good thing for us to do as both my husband and I have a tendency to freeze as soon as a camera is pointed in our direction! And one of our biggest concerns was that we wouldn’t end up with any photos of us looking remotes normal on the day! Fortunately, mainly due to the lovely nature of our photographer, that didn’t happen!
So what exactly does an engagement shoot entail? Jules Fortune explains a bit more:
‘I offer these fantastic pre wedding E-shoots as part of my ‘All Day Wedding Package’. A lot of photographers do charge extra for these informal shoots but it’s all in with the price. The shoot itself is around an hour and the couple receive around 15-20 fully edited beautiful images from the shoot. They can be studio or location and as quirky or traditional as you like. Over the last year we have done lots of E-shoot, some styled to the couple’s look, like our Vintage Ramsbottom Railway Station shoot, or more relaxed like the countryside walks in a sweet Rawtenstall location. They are a great way of getting used to the camera and taking direction, so on your big day you’ll be relaxed and pose ready!!.. E-shoot and informal portraiture shoots can also be arranged with even if you’re not getting hitched, priced at £50 for the shoot and an 10″x8″ print.’
If you’re a bit shy in front of the camera, I think this is a great idea. Have the shoot done early enough and you could maybe use one of the shots on a save the date card?
