Kristina & Andrew’s Perfect Wedding Weekend at Broughton Hall

Kristina & Andrew were married on 13th June 2015 with their ceremony at Sacred Heart
Chapel, Broughton Hall and afterwards at Broughton Hall.

Kristina tells us about her wedding in her own words:

“We met at Kirkham Grammar School in 2000. Andy noticed me
due to my bright yellow Nokia mobile phone cover! It took him a couple of weeks
to pluck up the courage to ask me out.

After 14 years together, we went away for the weekend in
February 2014 on what would have been the date we started going out all those
years ago. Andy had been planning the proposal since December 2013. He proposed
on a jetty in the Lake District. There was no one around and it was a gorgeous
crisp Friday morning. We walked to the end of the jetty and I turned around and
he was down on one knee. After the proposal, Andy whisked me off to Gilpin Lake
House. Andy proposed with a ring that had been his grandmother’s. It’s very
sentimental and gorgeous too! The
proposal was very thoughtful and romantic – well worth the wait!

The Big Day

We wanted the wedding to be intimate. We went all over the
country looking for the ideal venue. We wanted a chapel in the grounds of the
venue and it was near impossible finding one. After we’d been to view another
venue in Yorkshire, we were driving home on the A59 near Skipton when we
spotted Broughton Hall from the road. We drove up to it but it was all shut.

When we got home I googled the Hall and noticed that it had a private chapel
and was only 45 minutes from our home which was such a bonus. I contacted the
venue and was delighted to hear they were licensed for weddings and immediately
arranged to view the Hall. The Hall is hired out on an exclusive basis for the
weekend – which is exactly what we were after. There were bedrooms for 29
people and the chapel was absolutely stunning. Once we’d seen that and spoken
to the Priest, we fell in love with the 16th Century Hall and booked it! Roger
Tempest, the owner of the hall and Wendy Bateson, Roger’s PA were amazing
throughout the planning and nothing was too much trouble.

We wanted the wedding to be a weekend long party, for our
guests to be blown away and entertained. For the flowers, we chose Red Floral
Architecture. Mat Hepplestone created amazing arrangements and our guests were
well and truly blown away by his creations!

On the morning of the wedding, whilst the girls were getting
ready, the lads went clay pigeon shooting to keep them entertained (and out of
the pub!)… although they managed a cheeky pint on the way back…

I walked down the aisle to John Denver “Annie’s
song”, as the words are breathtaking. Louisa Stirland sang Pie Jesu and
Ava Maria during the service.

During the wedding breakfast, we had a surprise for our
guests. We had singing waiters, who performed 20 minutes of music. All our
guests were up on their feet swinging their napkins. We had managed to keep
this a secret from everyone and it was such an experience seeing our guests’
faces, when the singing waiters dropped the tray of cutlery before breaking
into song!

In the evening, we had the Hooper Band perform some fabulous
classics. The award winning magician Sam Fitton entertained and mesmerised our
evening guests with his amazing tricks. We also had All Fired Up Pizza Company
providing delicious pizzas to soak up the yummy cocktails from Jonny Cocktail!
We had a Photo Booth, and also the giant LOVE letters from Typical Type, which
captured some memorable photos.

The day was captured perfectly by Steph and Steven Ashton
from Ashton Photography and RT Productions Videographer. The quality of their
work is second to none.”
